For many years I told myself that ‘when I lose weight’ or ‘when I am thinner’ then I would do all the things I wanted to do. It has taken me a long time to realise that the time to do what I want is now. So I am reframing my conversation from When to Why not? Plus Size Travel Bloggers have helped me see there is a whole new world out there.
‘Why not’ is now usually followed up with ‘what is the worst that can happen’…..
I returned from and amazing holiday in Cambodia and Vietnam in January. Throughout the whole time I was away I did not see one other person my size – in five weeks.
I know there are plenty of glorious plus size ladies out there doing their thing – and travelling up a storm – but we are barely seen in any imagery about travel.
Over the last months I have been reading quite a blogs by amazing, proud, beautiful, strong and just delightful plus size travel bloggers, and checking them out on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. We are out there and we are living. We are moving right through ‘Why not’ into Bring it on, and let me at it..…
So, part of me building my confidence has been seeing and hearing about the experiences of plus size travel bloggers, making my experiences normal, realising there are whole lot of other people experiencing what I am. Here are some of the lovely ladies and plus size bloggers I have been following, head on over and check out their pages, Instagram and Facebook feeds:
- Weigh Out Wander
- Voyaging Vagabond
- Travel with Curves
- Some Day One Day
- The Plus Size Backpacker
- Red Door Ponderings
- Mrs Turtle’s Burrow
- From the Corners of the Curve
- The Militant Baker (definitely check out her recent 135 Ways to diversify your Instagram feed)
Thank you ladies for making my experiences real – and for showing me that Why Not is a great place to start. Is there anyone I have missed? Comment below and let me know.
Now where to next….the world is our oyster….
